At Almazan Law, we believe advocacy doesn’t stop at the courtroom doors—it extends into our communities, our families, and our fight for meaningful change. That’s why last week, Managing Partner Alex Almazan and his daughter Avery traveled to Tallahassee to participate in Florida Advocacy Day alongside the American Heart Association.
Together, they met with state lawmakers to support HB 1607 and SB 430—life-saving bills that would:
Require CPR training for all middle and high school students Mandate AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) in all public and charter schools Implement a Comprehensive Emergency Response Plan (CERP) in schools across Florida’s 67 counties
With over 4,000 schools statewide and cardiac arrest expected in 25% of them within the next year, these measures are more than policy—they’re a path to saving lives.
“Watching Avery lead the conversation with lawmakers was one of the most inspiring moments of my life. Advocacy isn’t just about laws—it’s about people, purpose, and the legacy we leave behind.” — Alex Almazan, Managing Partner
Why It Matters: • Defibrillation within 1 minute of cardiac arrest boosts survival rates by over 70% • Every minute without defibrillation lowers the chance of survival by 7–10%
We’re proud to share that both bills have unanimously passed their first committees, and we remain hopeful for full passage this session.
This is advocacy with heart—and it’s just one more way Almazan Law is working to protect the future of our communities.
