K. Kay Dodd Anderson joined the firm as a Partner in the Worker’s Compensation department in January 2019, after 13 years as an associate at another defense firm. She began her career as a worker’s compensation adjuster for 6 years and transitioned to employment as a paralegal for another 3 years during law school. She began practicing law as a worker’s compensation defense attorney in 2002. Mrs. Dodd Anderson has spent her decades of practice in the worker’s compensation industry defending the interests of Employers, Servicing Agents, Carriers, Self-Insured, and State/Municipalities. She has extensive trial and litigation experience. She specializes in misrepresentation/insurance fraud at the trial level.

Mrs. Dodd Anderson began her career in worker’s compensation as an adjuster for Nationwide Ins in 1993 while attending graduate studies at the University of Florida. After moving to Miami in 1996, she continued her career as a worker’s compensation claims adjuster for Gallagher Bassett Services for another 3 years. In 1999 she began law school in the evening program at the University of Miami. During the day, she worked full-time as a paralegal, initially with Kelly, Kronenberg et. al. and later with Marcos & Rothman, P.A. After graduating cum laude in 2002, she continued work with Marcos & Rothman as an associate attorney. She then joined MKRS Law in 2003 and worked there as an associate attorney until 2019. During her 20 years of legal practice in worker’s compensation, Mrs. Dodd Anderson has successfully managed a large caseload while aggressively litigating worker’s compensation claims to the conclusion at the trial level.

  • Jorge Rodriguez v. Waste Connections, Inc./ESIS, OJCC 21-019099SMS Final Compensation Order 3/23/23: denied all medical benefits sought (PRP injections, physical therapy) and attorney’s fees/costs, and voluntary dismissal of surgery issue prior to final hearing.

Achievements

Mrs. Dodd Anderson has a highly successful track record in defending worker’s compensation cases at trial. She tries cases throughout the year before Judges of Compensation Claims in all Flordia jurisdictions. She has extensive experience in the development of successful misrepresentation defenses under F.S. 440.105 and 440.09. She has succeeded in these defenses to such a degree that the claims have subsequently been accepted by the Florida Department of Insurance Fraud for prosecution. Additionally, she is highly experienced in managing the complex nature of claims from their onset to conclusion, in partnership with her clients, who are primarily self-insured Employers.
