Alex is the managing partner and founder of Almazan Law and has been licensed to practice in Florida since 1999. Alex has represented clients across a platform of legal matters including general liability and workers compensation defense, real estate transactional and title insurance, and general commercial litigation matters. As a licensed title agent with Old Republic/Attorneys Title for 18 years and now also First American, Alex has issued almost $2 Billion in owners and lenders title insurance policies in his legal career. Alex focuses much these days on the management and continued growth of the firm. In this capacity, he works with firm clients and with various teams supervising, mentoring, and developing strategies on matters through each of the firm’s practice areas. He constantly focuses on increased applications of existing and emerging legal technologies and growth commensurate with the times that for example had remote work, a cloud-based paperless platform, and laptops for all employees in place in advance of COVID which was instrumental for the firm to pivot quickly when others could not during that unprecedented event.

Alex has developed a great list of representative clients which include Fortune 500 companies, insurance carriers, restaurant and retail chains, high net worth individuals, and international clients with many eager to serve as references as needed for new clients for both Alex and the firm. Alex is a first-generation American, born to Cuban immigrant parents. His father was one of the approximate 10,000 Operation Pedro Pan children that left Cuba as minor children to escape Fidel Castro’s incoming regime leaving their parents behind. His appreciation for America, its freedoms, and opportunities never waned or was taken for granted. He is fluent in Spanish which has served him well in both management of clients and handling of litigation matters.

In his spare time, Alex can customarily be found on a soccer field somewhere in Florida, with his wife Danielle watching one of their 2 daughters both of whom play competitive travel soccer. He also continues to serve the American Heart Association (AHA) as a volunteer for over 12 years at a national and local level recently serving as the 2019 Chair of the Miami Heart Walk. Alex is both a Board member for the Southeast United States and the South Florida Board of the AHA. During COVID, Alex started the Miami Restaurant Project during the COVID-19 pandemic which served over 800 gourmet meals from affected local restaurants to our men and women in law enforcement in the City of Coral Gables and Miami Beach to thank them for their service to the community.

He has lectured and provided accredited seminars continuing to do so for clients and at conferences throughout his career.

Alex maintains a variety of Fortune 500 clients and national insurance carriers at the firm across all practice areas focusing on organic and metric-driven partnerships that look at long-term goals with short-term results. Results obtained via mutual efficiency while leveraging existing technologies in an ever-changing legal landscape including but not limited to cloud-based platforms, mobile technologies, individual laptops for all paralegals and attorneys, and remote work technologies implemented alongside a paperless transition in place over a year before the COVID-19 pandemic forced everyone to catch up.

He and his wife Danielle have two daughters ages 14 and 12 who share a passion for competitive soccer and sports. Alex is often found outside of work commitments on soccer fields across Florida.

At the request of a large lender client, Alex successfully navigated a complicated multicorporate, development land restructure, and issuance of a $42,000,000 title insurance policy. The 3rd largest issued in South Florida in that calendar year by Attorneys Title Insurance Fund. He has issued over $2 Billion dollars in policies during his career.

Represented a large marine boat manufacturer with the purchase of a multi-million dollar ocean marina that encompassed a county line making the deal more difficult as two municipalities were involved and a small island located in navigable waters was included.

As Florida counsel for a large national servicer with over 15,000 Florida assets in its portfolio, Alex has served as legal counsel since 2010 through the present successfully performing title curative, foreclosure, eviction, title insurance, and asset disposition services closing on over $300 Million in residential assets during that time frame.

As defense counsel in civil matters throughout Florida, Alex has handled liability defense cases from slip and falls and premises liability cases to fatalities.

Successfully represented an engineering firm in a civil case concerning construction defect litigation against multiple defendants including a municipality, favorably resolved on the eve of trial after successfully prevailing on a complex defense of various Motions including a Motion for Summary Judgment.

Since becoming a licensed Real Estate Attorney in 1999, Alex has represented buyers and sellers in real estate transactions in all 67 Florida counties and the Caribbean including the Bahamas and Curacao.

Alex has handled over 1000 workers' compensation defense matters in his career prevailing on the defense of matters from Permanent Total Disability to compensability from PEOs to uninsured corporations. Workers' Compensation defense was the first practice area Alex worked in when graduating from law school in 1998.

Alex represented an individual client in a civil real estate dispute involving a $4M pre-construction contract and alleged breach by Developer successfully procuring a larger replacement property and full refund of the client’s deposit.

Represented a large high-end appliance distributor in the structure and purchase of expansion lands and new building space for their multi-million dollar facility.

Successfully achieved significant financial recovery for luxury residential single-family home buyers as to concealed mold and failed remediation attempts by Seller within 60 days of filing suit in Miami Dade County.

Successfully created case law in Florida with a 4th DCA appellate case that now allows parties to file counter 57.105 motions post dismissal of claims. This is needed as protection when a court retains jurisdiction over an opposing party’s own 57.105 Motion, post-entry of a voluntary dismissal order, and the meritless pursuit of sanctions. Alex is writing a book about the experience obtained during that lengthy fight aimed at teaching primarily young lawyers the realities of non-substantive actions by lawyers and law firms targeting opponents during litigation with meritless claims. Claims aimed at garnering success in litigation through false pretenses and smoke and mirrors tactics.
